Types of diabetes

Diabetes type 1: It is caused by a combination of genetic, environmental and immunological factors that ultimately results in the destruction of insulin producing cells by the Pancreas and consequently causes the affected people to produce very little or no amount of insulin, and hence they must receive insulin to survive. Diabetes type 1 is often diagnosed in children and young adults which consists only 5-10 percent of the known cases.

Diabetes type 2: About 90 to 95 percent of the known diabetes cases relate to diabetes type 2 in which the afflicted patient develops resistance to absorption of insulin and deficiency to insulin secretion. Diabetes type 2 is a multi-factoral illness, having strong genetic dependency. Other risk factors of vulnerability to diabetes type two include the age (above 30), low physical activity, overweight and obesity (specially stomach obesity), previous family history, high blood pressure, FBS disorder, glucose tolerance disorder and the race.  This form of diabetes may remain unknown for years because the blood sugar goes up gradually, These people can solve their problem through doing exercise and diet as these solutions cause reduction of resistance to insulin and increase in the amount of insulin secretion.
